He who laughs last, laughs longest

Or her. Women can laugh too...it's just usually long after bedtime.
Don't even get me started on the Easter holidays - I'm not sure that I'll ever laugh again!
(If you know me, you know that's proper codswallop. The sentiment is there though)
Anyway, here's what the above phrase means :
Don't rejoice too soon, in case your delight at your own good fortune is premature
Why on Earth have I started off with such a ludicrous title?
In February, some of my clients decided to pause their marketing. What's worse is that some of the prospects in my pipeline then decided to push back their plans to start.
As a professional, I'm simply going to say this...aaaargh!
Now, there are lots of reasons why spending gets cut before the new tax year, but here are some consequences of cutting your content to save costs;
Now, I know that not everyone is in a position to pay for a content writer, but it's important to understand the cost BEFORE you decide it's a "no-go".
Most of us are reasonably flexible, and can often offer a slightly amended service that involves repurposing your existing content for a fraction of the usual retainer price. All you need to do is...ASK!
Of course, I also offer a Fresh Eyes Power Hour. What is it?

In other news...
We're hosting the first LinkedIn Local Sidmouth Netwalking event on Tuesday 30th April. You'll be very pleased to know that dogs ARE ALLOWED, and that we are meeting slightly later than our breakfast event. So, if you're in Devon and fancy a walk-and-talk, drop me or Ashley Leeds a DM.
I'll also be attending my first EVER Atomicon in June. I would LOVE to know who else is going, so if you've bought your ticket, do let me know in the comments.
The moral of the story is, of course, to avoid giving up on your marketing just because it's tax season. Perhaps it's a prompt to review your finances and work out where there's wiggle room, but please don't assume that you will still enjoy business growth if you take your foot off the gas. Social media marketing is only one part of your marketing strategy, but it is an important one for credibility, building of trust and communicating with your ideal clients.
If you're stuck, let me know. Remember, I can help you out with blogs and newsletters too!
Have we had a 1-2-1? If we've been connected but not had a call, why not drop me a message and book yourself in for a natter?
Have a great month ahead!

11 个月What are you saying Odessa? That persistence and consistency is everything in marketing? That it isn't a "stop-start" game? What I like is the financial mindset that says "I'll stop spending £100 (or £1,000 or £10,000) a month on marketing to save money, even though that means I won't get £5,000 (or £50,000 or £500,000) of work from that marketing later. (When I say "What I like..." about the financial mindset, what I really mean is "What scares me rigid is people who don't want to generate sales for their business.")

11 个月I do declare Odessa this is a very thought provoking marketing article. Dealing with the big issues. Let's all get some more work in. How hard can it be? Nice to see an article I used to do LI articles 16/17 years ago and then the demand seemed to be for the short pithy post.
