Health Trivia Question!
Leadership Message: Tyler Smith, CEO
We are grateful for the new faces who have joined HDM over the last few months. The strength of our new people is a testament to the hard work our veteran team members have put in to create such a fantastic firm, so a huge thank you to everyone at HDM for what we have built together and the inclusivity we show new team members.
In particular, we are fortunate to have individuals joining us in all different functions. Damaris Thomas, who joined as a Marketing Coordinator in September, has done a fantastic job bringing alignment across our marketing materials, including our website, sales collateral, and LinkedIn posts. Eric Sellari, who joined us earlier this month, brings a wealth of HIT experience in business development and account management and is already driving to increase our footprint at healthcare provider organizations.
At the higher level, we are truly blessed to have our first physician member of the Board and our first CIO. Curtis Cole, MD, joins the HDM Board of Directors with a background as a provider, technologist, and leader at significant healthcare and academic institutions (currently Cornell University). His mission-driven career, which began during the AIDS pandemic in New York City in the 1980s, is an inspiration in itself, and we look forward to his insights and direction as a member of the BOD.
We have also been lucky to create our Advisory Council (AC), which will provide hands-on help and guidance to members of our executive team and our VP and Director levels. After serving in the United States Army, Thomas Aikens ran Leidos' healthcare IT business. Ryan Cassil is the Interim CFO of Industrial Flow Solutions and a finance executive at May River Capital's enterprise resource group, previously serving as the Director of FP&A at Tempus Labs. In the short time they have been with us, Tom and Ryan have already begun to make their mark on instituting best practices for our Client Services and Finance & Administration.
We look forward to adding more members to the AC to continue to push HDM closer to our vision of being healthcare's most respected technology services firm by empowering our leaders with the know-how to get to the most respected level!
Another notable update on our Delivery side is that our Workday Partnership has been inked! We are officially a Workday Advisory Partner and look forward to continuing to provide our clients with the highest quality resourcing in the Workday space, now as a formal member of the ecosystem.
Client Success Story: HCN Go-Live?
In a significant stride towards digital excellence, Health Choice Network, a Federally Qualified Health Centers network, collaborated with Health Data Movers for the recent wave of their Epic implementation. This phase was particularly noteworthy as it extended the reach of HCN’s Epic instance into new territories, including Florida, Rhode Island, Texas, and notably, marked the first-ever Epic implementation in Puerto Rico.
This partnership between HDM and HCN was not just about technological implementation; it was a concerted effort to enhance patient care and operational efficiency across diverse healthcare settings. HCN’s commitment to providing top-notch health services, especially in underserved communities, was complemented by HDM’s expertise in handling large-scale, complex EHR deployments.
The project’s scope was vast, involving the deployment of Epic in multiple locations, each with its unique requirements and challenges. HDM’s approach was methodical and adaptive, focusing on tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of each site. This effort involved providing 170+ at-the-elbow support personnel, trained extensively in Epic’s functionalities and HCN’s unique workflows, ensuring that the end-users at each location received the specialized assistance they needed.
A crucial aspect of this collaboration was the logistics management, a task HDM navigated precisely. Coordinating the deployment of resources across six central locations over four weeks required meticulous planning and execution. HDM’s team handled everything from arranging travel and accommodations to ensuring the onsite presence of skilled professionals, while maintaining a tight grip on the project’s timeline and budget.
Training was a key component of the project’s success. Before deploying teams, HDM conducted comprehensive training sessions on Health Choice Network’s workflows, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to offer effective, situation-specific support. This preparatory step was critical in ensuring smooth and efficient transition to the new system.
Throughout the project, HDM encountered and adeptly managed various challenges, including the logistics of handling a large team and the need for swift replacement of resources where necessary. Leadership presence on-site at critical locations, including at HCN’s command center, was instrumental in addressing these challenges promptly and efficiently.
The result of this collaboration was a resounding success. HDM and HCN implemented Epic seamlessly across the new locations, marking a significant milestone in HCN’s mission to provide quality healthcare. The project enhanced operational efficiencies and strengthened the capacity of HCN’s health centers to deliver patient-centered care.
This successful implementation stands as a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in healthcare technology, paving the way for future advancements in the sector. The partnership between Health Data Movers and Health Choice Network has set a new standard for excellence in healthcare IT implementations, particularly in Federally Qualified Health Centers.
