#Shortrotation #HD #plantationforestry as a #landuse pattern for #fallow #marginallands for #accelerated #CarbonSequestration,

#SDG limits temperature to 1.5C by 2030. Accelerated sequestration can be attained by #HDP of short rotation forestry crops. This #landuse pattern can bring in large extant of #noncultivable/fallow areas into #productive #landuse. Fast growing species show shorter rotation cycles and higher #NBP in shorter spans allowing quick #ROI. These stands if #sustainablycertified can extracted at the point of highest NBP will provide for maximum sequestration in such a shorter span as envisaged by SDG . The #timber thus extracted will be sustainably sourced and can be used for #structuraltimber reducing #bioticpressure on our #forest and creating sustainable #rural #livelihood options.
