Programs

  • Researchers's Night:

On the 27th of September, HCEMM awaits enthusiasts of science on Researchers's Night (Kutatók éjszakája) at the Incubator Housem the HCEMM HQ Building.

Starting 18:00, Dr. Szilvia Juhász talks about relationship of age, gut microbiome and disease, followed by Dr. Zsuzsanna Réthi-Nagy, who gives visitors a glimpse of how travel and visiting distant places transforms the community of microorganisms in the gut (in Hungarian)

Starting 17:00, visitors get to tour the facility labs with the members of Genome Integrity and DNA-repair Core Group - also, to do cool experiments! There is another round starting 18:00 (in Hungarian).

Starting 17:00, doctors Karri Lamsa and Viktor Szegedi will explain how looking at live human brain cells for science is possible, and why it is preferable to oft-used model animals, such as rats or mice. As a first, this talk will be held in English as well as Hungarian.

  • HCEMM Science Café Debrecen:

Science Café's next event is coming up next: not September, but only just! This time, October 9th, Science Café visits Debrecen, an we're looking forward to two intriguing talks:

Dr. Tibor Pankotai will guide the audience to the frontier of cancer diagnostics, and beyond: the future of finding, profiling and addressing cancer sooner than the current limits of modern diagnostic tools would allow.

Dr. Gergely R?st delves into the mathematics of chaos and the many places we encounter it, from the kitchen to biology research.

Meanwhile at HQ

  • Researchers Night is coming up fast, we are getting ready for hosting our first-ever large-scale popular science event at our HQ. Fortunately, the new tarmac road the facility is now complete, and accessibility is better than ever!
  • New Plate Reader CLARIOstar-Plus arrived at the Incubator House, to be deployed soon. This multi-mode microplate reader is equipped with highly sensitive filters, an ultras-fast UV/visible spectrometer, autofocus, atmospheric control, temperature incubation, well scane, reagent injectors and more, allowing our scientists to detect and quantify various biological, chemical, or physical events in samples.
