HBCC Pathway to Work Expo

On Friday 26th July, the Platinum Staffing team had the pleasure of attending Hobsons Bay City Council Pathway to Work Expo. Facilitated by Footprint Group Events, this initiative was a way for local businesses to connect with passionate jobseekers within the community.

Set within the iconic Grazeland venue on a rare sunny day in winter, the event was bustling with year 11 and 12 students from local schools upon opening. Platinum Staffing team members Andrew and April had the pleasure of discussing all things hospitality with these keen young members of the community as they set about learning the ins and outs of entering the workforce.

Once the morning session drew to a close, the afternoon session brought with it a variety of keen locals - from uni students looking for casual work alongside their studies, to older members of the community who were seeking to further expand their already existing work experience. ?Andrew and April were delighted to share their passion for hospitality with like-minded individuals and were pleased to see how many talented and driven members of the community were in attendance.

The Pathways to Work Expo had an impressive lineup of speakers and entertainment throughout the day, including a moving presentation by the HBCC Mayoral Panel titled ‘Advice to my Younger Self’ which gave insight into job-seeking tips and tricks from our local leaders. Western Bulldogs members were also in attendance, speaking to job-seekers and providing advice on employment strategies through an open panel discussion.

After an exciting day of getting out into the local community and speaking with the locals and other businesses alike, Platinum Staffing were reminded of the privilege of being surrounded by a strong community who are passionate about working together to strengthen our workforce and local community though highlighting the importance of connections and networking. We would like to sincerely thank the Hobsons Bay City Council for organising and inviting us to this event. We can’t wait for the next one!
