How many Hazards can you spot?....

How many safety hazards can you identify on this double sliding gate installation, we came across in London? Who ever installed it, may not need to answer, just yet!...

Two sliding gates, that cross each others access and are held in place by a single support post. Situated on a busy footpath in a popular part of West London, this installation allows the owner to open one gate at a time, so as to park a car behind each opening, assuming the vehicle is not too long and no one is about.

As we did not install it, nor have we worked on it, I cannot confirm the logic setting or any operational force settings. There are photo-beams fitted and no safety edges, no mesh nor any other safety device. Unsurprisingly this pair of systems fails our safety matrix with quite an alarmingly bad scores and whomever is looking to buy or even sell this property, be aware, be very aware!

Somebody designed this, somebody went to the trouble installing this and somebody actually paid for this. The question I guess, is why? The property is worth many hundreds of thousands of pounds and parking around there is worth a huge premium, so why risk ones own liberty with an unsafe design in the first instant.
