A manufacturer of military explosives has been fined ￡670,000 after an employee was killed and another seriously injured in an explosion at a factory near Salisbury, UK. The two men were working on the production of MTV – an explosive substance used in military flares – at the premises of Chemring Countermeasures on 10 August 2018. They were cleaning a vessel used in the production and were removing residual explosive material in preparation for the next day’s shift.
DURABOOK has announced the availability of two rugged tablet models specifically designed for use in locations where gases, vapours, dust, and other substances create a significant risk of explosion. The new Durabook R8-EX and U11I-EX Windows 11 tablets are certified to meet ATEX Zone 2/22 certification, meaning they can be used in environments where potential ignition sources include lightning strikes, stray currents, static electricity, open flames, and mechanically generated sparks.
