Fire breaks out at hydrogen fuelling station, destroys $1.1 million hydrogen-fuelled bus

Part of a hydrogen fuelling station was damaged and a hydrogen-fuelled bus was destroyed after a fire broke out in California, US on 18 July. The incident happened at Kern County’s first hydrogen fuelling station which is owned by Golden Empire Transit (GET) in the city of Bakersfield.

Fire chiefs warn of explosion risks at proposed energy storage site

Concerns have been raised about explosion risks at a planned battery storage facility near Wakefield in Yorkshire, UK. In a report produced by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority (WYFRA), fire chiefs highlighted the potential risks posed by the site, including a densely populated area being exposed to a vapour cloud.

CSB releases new safety video on 2019 chemical plant explosions and fires

The US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) has released a new safety video on its investigation into the serious November 2019 incident at the TPC Group Chemical Plant in Port Neches, Texas. A series of explosions destroyed a portion of the TPC facility, damaged nearby homes and businesses, and prompted a mandatory evacuation of residents living within four miles of the plant.

Companies sign contract for UK’s first deep geothermal power plant

Exergy International and Geothermal Engineering Ltd. (GEL) have signed a contract for the supply of a 3 MWe of energy at the United Downs site, in Cornwall. This represents the first integrated deep geothermal project in the UK which will begin delivering energy by late 2024.
