Hayden's Apprenticeship Story

Welcome to the second?instalment of this week's?feature stories as we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (6th - 12th Feb 2023),?where we're sharing lots of information from our wonderful Colleague Community that have embarked on their apprenticeship journey with us.

Hayden H. , take us through your career journey at TC so far...

I am now entering my 16th?Month at Travel Counsellors and honestly, I hadn’t heard of TC before joining, this may have been because I didn’t really go on abroad holidays and stuck to UK holidays. The thing that brought me here originally was the opportunity to study my Level 3 Azure IT apprenticeship.

What role are you doing and what apprenticeship qualification have you been studying?

So, my current role at Travel Counsellors is Technology Service Desk.?My apprenticeship is provided by QA apprenticeships and is named Level 3 Information Communications Technician - Azure Cloud Support Specialist V2.0. This apprenticeship is around 15/16 months long.

What is?your favourite part about working at TC, what makes TC a great place to work??

My favourite thing about TC is easily the people I have met and built relationships with within my department (TSD, Security, Platform). At the start I struggled with moving jobs, starting somewhere new in a new career. If it wasn’t for the people in my department and how friendly they were at the start I don’t know if I would have stayed in them first couple of months. It's just the general feeling of togetherness around the company and knowing that you are all aiming for the same goals and outcomes.

I also would like to give a shout out to? Lisa Bradshaw ?who was assigned my “buddy” for the first 6 months, as she helped me a lot with settling in and managing new expectations.

How do you hope to make a difference in the role that you do?

I just want to support people the best that I can with my tech knowledge and help them with any issues they may have. Also, while bringing my own personality and ideas to the team.

What’s next for you in your journey?

After the Level 3 apprenticeship I am interested to study a Level 4 in Cyber Security and carry learning more about tech and growing my knowledge like what Joshua Lambert has done. Which is moving from the Level 3 to the Level 4???
