Hawthorne Effect

Hawthorne Effect

Seasons Greetings!

Hawthorne effect is referred to a type of reactivity in which individuals modify their behavior in response to their awareness of being observed.

This study was derived from the research conducted at Hawthorne Western Electric Plant.

The company had conducted the experiment to determine whether worker’s productivity increased or decreased if the intensity of light increased or decreased in their working conditions.

The workers’ productivity increased when the lighting improved and decreased when the lighting decreased. That’s how Hawthorne effect was coined.

And it has had several applications in businesses of all size and type.

Speaking of this, typically a company functions well, when there is a goal to hit at or if somebody continuously monitors and guide.
