Having your own labeled panorama is easy!
Who should get a labeled panorama?
Do you have a place with an interesting view? I am talking mountains, cityscapes, hills, countryside?
How about getting a labeled panorama as a memento. It can be put on the balcony/terrasse as a panoramic table for you and your guests or you hang it up as wall art. Either way, it will bring you joy and is a perfect conversation starter.
I have created panoramas all over Switzerland and a few in France and in the UK. This sounds more glamorous than it is, as often I don’t need to travel to take the underlying photos. Check out my Gallery page for my work.
An example of the procedure
The Swiss Alpine Club got contacted by someone who inquired if they know somebody who could create a labeled panorama from their place. Luckily (for me), the Swiss Alpine Club knows me and recommended my name. The eventual customer got in touch, I explained the procedure, the pricing, and we agreed very quickly (my prices are very competitive) to start the process.
Here a few of the questions I would ask:
Is the panorama for public or private display?
Is it to be shown inside or outside?
How large would you like it to be?
Do you need a fixing system (to put it on the balcony or maybe create a stand for it)?
Do you have a decent camera (ideally DSLR or at least a good smartphone)?
Once I know the answers I can make a price. Depending on the location, I will probably suggest to the client that he makes the individual photos. If the client agrees, I will send him precise instructions of how I need the photos to be taken (Hint: Don’t use the panoramic function in the smartphone).
The client then sends me the individual photos electronically
15 photos taken by client and sent to me electronically
I will stitch the photos together, make the resulting panorama as beautiful as possible and send it back to the client for approval.
The proposed version of the panorama
If the client is happy, I start labeling the view (in this example the mountains, sometimes including valleys, rivers, villages, buildings etc). Then it goes back to the client for corrections, suggestions, and approval. Usually, there is a little bit of back and forth at this stage.
The labeled panorama in colour
In this case, the client asked if it would be possible to create a black and white version. The panorama was for inside and aesthetically black and white fitted better.

After the client gives me the ‘good to print’, I print the artwork and send/deliver it.

Make an unforgettable present
Labeled panoramas are also a fantastic present. I have created some for big birthdays or as a Thank You from a group of people who were invited to use a chalet of one of their friends.

4 年Great idea for the Panoramic photo... post Covid I will follow up. Might be very cool for Daiwa’s office to do that view the window view of the office overlooking lower Manhattan .
