Having trouble with Scrum or Agile?

I see many posts by Scrum proponents talking about challenges with Scrum and other Agilists talking about people having trouble with Agile. As I like to say, "when everybody has the problem, the problem isn't with everybody."

There are common causes of this. A "common cause error" is what W. Edwards Deming calls an error due to the system people are in more than the people themselves. This means that these errors will likely keep happening unless we fix the system.

This is very expensive when we don't have a solid theory as to why things work.

Deming said "Theory without experience is useless. Experience without theory is expensive."

These posts have inspired me to add a Scrum challenges section on my Problems and Disempowering Beliefs Lucid Sparks page.

Please let me know when you have any challenges and I'll add a row. Having done Scrum since 2001 now and talking to thousands of folks who use it - successfully and unsuccessfully - there is little new under the sun for me regarding Scrum. I apply the theories of Flow, Lean, the Theory of Constraints and Human-Centered Development. These are lacking in Scrum and the cause of virtually all of the problems people have with it.

You can also join the free Amplio Community of Practice and attend live sessions every Tuesday Morning (except for the next two Tuesdays since I'm on a holiday now) at 8am Pacific.

Of course, if you want to become an expert faster, enroll in Amplio University.

The following list are challenges I've also made LinkedIn posts about.
