Having options changed my career.
And frankly, my life.
I applied for Master’s program. So I could start strong in my career even in the downturn of 2009.
I did my MBA on the weekend. So I could move out of Engineering on my own timeline.
I self-petitioned my EB1-A Greencard. So when my company asked me to relocate, I could quit.
I applied for Canadian PR. So when EB1-A got backlogged, I could keep my family in North America.
I decided to join Amazon. So I wouldn’t have the financial pressure when the business made zero money.
I started my 1:1 coaching practice. So I could eliminate 100% reliance on government contracts.
At every step of the way, I leveraged the power of options.
To make my plan B strong.
To make my BATNA stronger (something I teach you inside THE FEARLESS HIRE).

So I could lead my career on my own terms.
Building options while working full-time and juggling a small family was damnnnnnnn hard.
But having options shifted the power from my company, my boss, the client, the market… TO ME.
So what does it have to do with job search?
Far too often, I see people sit tight until it’s too late.
They start looking for their next role once they are forced into the market.
It leaves them with no leverage to negotiate their own terms.
No options.. no BATNA.. no power.
If you want to build a career, and life on your own terms, you must start building your options now… before you actually NEED the new job.
