Having fun at work.

I like this Jeff Weiner quote and this why.

When I was about fourteen years old we had to play a soccer match against the champions to be. We were at the bottom of the league. That day we fought like lions and the game ended in a draw 0 - 0. Our opponents were enoyed. After the game the captains shook hands. Then our captain Marcel spoke the words I'll never forget: 'The result is not important. It could have been easily the other way around!' We had a great day.

Last month I visited a work related training seminair. It was awful. All people tried to impress each other. Showing how extraordinairy they were by using empty words and quoting other people's quotes. I left early.

These memories came into mind when I passed my favorite spot yesterday going to my work.

A bench under a big oak tree near the church in our village. A place where one could sit for hours looking at the peaceful meadows. A place where time stands still. I never sat on that bench before and I made a bold decision. On that bench I closed my eyes. Only for a short moment. Thinking about Marcel and people using empty words.

Then I opened my eyes and knew what to do. I went to my work arriving just in time and I had a great day!
