By now, you have probably seen several of the memes started by Dolly Parton's telling everyone they should "Get you a woman who can do it all ??." It has been a lot of fun and it was so well done, I decided I had to join in on behalf of a cotton that everyone should also get cause it can do it all! I had to share it on my blog and social media!
A New Meme Craze
It was a great branding opportunity that digitally savvy got immediately. Dolly Parton started it with posting a photo collage with a bit of wording creating the latest viral challenge. No emptying an ice bucket over your head or planking somewhere. The simplicity of photos with a bit of text showing how she can do it all -- work, fun, lifestyle and sexy. By putting it in the context of prominent, distinctive online networks that offer really different value, it had a great sense of humor and insight. Like any really good meme, it triggered an avalanche of copy cats.
It’s why memes can be so powerful. You can wrap up so many things into a simple image or collection of images with a few words. People can’t help but share in the fun. There is something of a universal truth but you also get the feeling of being in on the know. Participating in these can not only be fun, but you can frequently get people to realize something a bit different about you, your brand or whatever.
Next thing you knew people were hashtagging the #DollyPartonChallenge as they did their take on it. I had friends who did them for themselves, pets, brands they work for and more. And I thought people should know to get a fiber that can do it all too!
Get Yourself The Fiber that Can Do It All!
I know. It is crazy to be so passionate about a fiber. But come on! Cotton really can do it all!
That's what I came up with and here's what I was thinking:
- LinkedIn — When it comes to business, cotton has you covered! In fact, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing reports that US bills are printed on 75% cotton and 25% linen stock. And if you look at what you can do with a bale of cotton (about 500 lbs), you could make 313,600 $100 bills!
- Facebook — Facebook is for fun and family. What’s more fun than t-shirts, jeans, digging in the dirt and a big old pair of underwear? Also, when things get a bit more serious, talking about the environment is more fun when you can talk about soiling your undies (to show soil health).
- Instagram — Lifestyle and beautiful photography are what makes the day on Instagram and as that sunset shows and as cotton farmers know, you can get a great lifestyle with the natural fiber AND harvest photos are often stunning!
- Tinder — Looking for love? Well polyester sheets would have you in all the wrong places! Obviously you are going to want some awesome cotton sheets!
Cotton really is the fiber that can do it all!
Did you do one? If so, drop a link in the comments. If not, did you see a favorite?
Some of the text here was posted on my site Hundred Percent Cotton tonight too!
