A home care agency has many important elements to it that drive its productivity and revenue. Among these elements, I’d argue that the Caregivers are the most important. It’s quite obvious that a home care agency with no Caregivers is already dead!
Right now, does your agency have enough caregivers to meet the needs of your clients? If you don’t, it’s actually costing you a ton of money. For that reason alone, it’s something you definitely want to figure out ASAP.
I’ve seen plenty of cases where home care agencies had to turn down a case because they didn't have enough caregivers. Other times, I’ve seen scenarios where home care agencies weren’t looking fast enough for replacement caregivers and ended up completely understaffed and ill-equipped to take in clients.
Not only that, but a lack of caregivers will most likely lead to unhappy customers. If they aren’t being served because you are understaffed, satisfaction will drop to rock bottom, and your agency will be hemorrhaging clients at an alarming pace.
Do you feel like your home care agency is caught up in a difficult place right now in terms of caregivers? If your answer is yes, here are 2 possible reasons as to why this might be happening to you.
Reason 1: Keeping unfit Caregivers because You Think You're Left with No Choice
Keeping unfit caregivers is just as bad as losing skilled ones. These caregivers just don’t fit in with your process, and they’re acting very inefficient. No matter how you might think, it’s better to let go of unfit caregivers because they’re doing more harm than good for your agency.?

Reason 2:?Not putting Enough ENERGY, EFFORT, and FOCUS on your Recruiting
Probably one the most common reason why your lacking caregivers. You do not put enough energy, effort, and focus on recruiting. The end result is quite obvious, that being an understaffed home care agency. Without the caregivers to attend to your clients, no one will help them. And when word gets out that there aren’t enough caregivers? People will go to other home care agencies instead.?
These two reasons are definitely costing You!
I’ve made a rough estimate regarding the lifetime value of a client. After some calculation, I’ve found out that this value is over $12,667. In terms of lifetime value, a client is equivalent to $2,000.
Do you see now just how much of a big deal it is to turn down clients? When you are turning down cases, it’s costing you a TON of money and profit.
For every 5 Cases that you turn down, that’s already a?$10,000 loss in Profit Opportunity for your home care business…
Unless you do something about that, those numbers are only going to get bigger and bigger until the inevitable shut down of your home care agency.
One of the easiest solutions to this problem is to start crunching and understanding your numbers. Figure out how much not having enough caregivers is costing you for not fixing this problem, and start figuring out what you can and are willing to do to fix the matter.?
