~Having an APPetite for APPLES~
BY DANNY McCARTHY
One nowadays is familiar especially millennials ?especially w/ APPs or the Apple business where one hopes to stay connected.
JOE MOLLICA was featured in the September 29, 2023 DAN’s PAPERS on page 62 w/ “Celebrate the Hamptons Apple Harvest with In-season Favorites”
ACTually folks, his article covers ONE TOPIC {APPLES} YET available in varieties on the South Fork of Long Island -{&}- AT THE VERY END IS apples from the NORTH FORK of Long Island.
NEWDSAY, TUESDAY, ?OCTOBER 10, 2023 page B7 its “plus” column titled “Apples and weight loss” {via Premium Health News Service}
Aha! Within that article ~ it was not until the final paragraph where it reads -&- I quote: “Apples have beneficial nutrient your body needs, but eating the fruit alone can’t help promote weight loss. Rather, eating a wide array of foods that includes nutritious carbs, protein and unsaturated fats could support managing a healthy weight."
{IF YOU WANNA (e)njoy} "them as a snack with protein: One classic way to eat apples is by pairing them with nut butters or cheese to make a filling snack.” Aha!
Towards the beginning it states: “… apples are naturally low in calories. Depending on size, apples provide 80 to 130 calories per fruit. The natural sugars in apples can also help keep cravings for sweets at bay, according to Melissa Mitri, a nutrition writer and owner of Melissa Mitri Nutrition.” {On-board MELISSA MITRI’s facebook account it reads: “Intro I help busy women lose weight, feel confident in their own skin, and ditch the fad diets for good”}
THEN there’s this within the article I’m discussing
“… According to the USDA, an apple packs {four-to-five} grams of fiber, providing about 12% to 16% of your daily recommended daily intake…”
This is questionable ~
There is a “LOW-GLYCEMIC FOOD” headline text dealing with “The glycemic index} system {amp; {how it rates one’s sugar intake to reveal blood sugar levels}” “… the American Diabetes Association {rates} apples {as} a low-glycemic food with a glycemic index between 34 and 38 depending on the variety, meaning they won’t cause blood sugar spikes after eating.” Aha! ~ AGAIN. Does that mean a diabetic can eat apples OR has to watch for anyway?
It also claims that “Apples are so juicy {as they have} high water content with water making 85% to 86% of their weight. Along with fiber, the moisture in apples keeps you full and hydrated helping temper your {APPetite}.” Does that relate to JACKSON BROWNE’s hit “Running on Empty” – { ???? } –
The article also states that apples have antioxidant nutrients ~ “A 2022 review in the Journal of Inflammation Research indicate that quercetin, a type of antioxidant and flavonoid (plant pigment) {stet} found in apples may have {a type of ?} nbsp;inflammatory properties to {ward-off insulin-resistance} and the development of atherosclerosis”
