Haven- (Amazon+ Berkshire+ JP Morgan) -Void of “Intelligence”

“How can there be anything wrong with trying to do good? The answer may be: when the good is an accomplice to even greater, if more invisible, harm.”

― Anand Giridharadas, Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World - new york times bestseller

The celebrated union of Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan, named “Haven” has failed. "Haven" is formed to drastically reduce the healthcare costs in the united states. The plan of reducing healthcare costs remains elusive even for the most powerful.

The failure of this dream union is attributed to several reasons’, clarity of the mission, or their lack of, organizational skills which are absent, conflicts within which are expected. But I believe, the main reason is the void of "intelligence". I am not saying this lightly, dare these companies together can buy half of the land on this planet and can hire a small country’s population with a wink of an eye. But the only thing they cannot buy is true wisdom and intelligence.

The central culprit for rising healthcare costs, besides a host of other problems, is, American Materialism, The material possessions improve individuals’ personal and social well-being is a constant campaign by the corporations. The more you sell, the more you buy projected as a symbol of success. Contrary to this belief, multiple studies show that materialists, compared to non-materialists, have lower social and personal well-being on all fronts. Loneliness, Opioid abuse, and depression are directly related to American consumerism.

The most troubling part is governments and policymakers joined in hands with corporations to promote this dangerous relentless myth.. The first and foremost responsibility of the policymakers is the wellbeing of its residents. Laws and regulations should be designed around, that scared tenet.

This is not some subjective and new age ideal. Most religions teach attachment to materialism is sin. It is clearly articulated by prophets and philosophers throughout history. One of them is the Greek Philosopher Plato. In his text of philosophy called “Theory of forms”, he elegantly put forward, rules for the relationship between humans and materialism. It is a timeless road map for designing laws and regulations for human behavior.

According to Plato, there are two distinct worlds. One world is the physical "WORLD OF OBJECTS", the materialistic things that we crave for, new iPhone, new car, etc. The other world is the "WORLD OF IDEALS", (Ideas and Ideals are interchangeable in this context) the principles that are absolutely true and won’t change with time or geographical location.

Plato argues the things, that you see in front of your eyes, are not real, the only thing that is real, the "World of Ideals" ( Universal Principles). He elevates the "World of Ideals" to be the only thing that is real and the objects you see, are the just shadows of that real world. It is certainly a counterintuitive thought.

For example “Devotion” belongs to the "world of ideals" whereas “Rituals” belong to the "world of objects". The "Word of objects", TV, Phone, computer are the materialistic objects that serve the purpose of a great ideal, a “conscious Experience”. Plato argues the conscious experience is more real than the objects that provide that experience. A Mexican farmworker in the strawberry field can have the same conscious experience without all those gadgets.

Plato put forward brilliant and compelling equations for the governance of these two worlds. The materialistic "world of objects" can not dictate the governing rules for the "world of ideals". The "world of ideals" are solid rock principles and they come from the laws of nature and the universal conscious experiences.

Anil Seth a well-respected neuroscientist from the University of Sussex, England agrees with Pluto, states there is only one thing there is, a “ Conscious experience” and there is no evidence for anything else, as real as it may seem to be.

Corporations( World of Objects) who sell goods and services every day should not own the well-being of humans. if so, corporations become an existential threat to the very meaning of life.

"Haven” a company formed by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan with boundless resources, wanted to change the world of healthcare, by dictating their version of rules for the world.. Their mission is vague at best, at worse there is no principle of a higher cause. A true entrepreneur serves the absolute ideals and authoritarian manufactures and writes the ideals as they go. Sorry they failed, they should have appealed to their better angels for intelligence and wisdom.

But not all lost yet, we can easily map Plato’s ideals into the present-day healthcare system with precision. Hospitals, labs, MRI, CT scan machines belong to the world of objects, Nametags like physicians, nurses, or even insurance plans also fall into the same category. On the other hand, “wellbeing of fellow humans”, “Taking care of sick”, belongs Plato’s "world of Ideals". That is the place where health care policy should originate from.

. If you apply Plato's rules to healthcare, the first concept that is going to come out is, “Patient-Centric Healthcare “ model. It means, the governments, and policymakers should zero in on this model. This ancient scientific wisdom is supported by recent studies by several research organizations. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should be the catalyst for this change.

A new evolving technology that can ensure all the principles and policies of Plato’s higher values, that is “Blockchain Technology”. The power of Blockchain Technology is in its immutability. It is a mathematical model that verifies, whether you are a politician or administrator, you are telling the truth all the time and all the places.

Unfortunately, corporations are trying to define what is “wellbeing” should mean to you. That is like shadows telling the subjects how to move.

I hope we learned enough lessons through the pandemic and should not wait for the rebirth of a philosopher like Plato or another scientist like Einstein.

In the Hindu Epic, Mahabharata, in the middle of a war scene, the true teacher and philosopher "Krishna", gives profound wisdom and knowledge through this narration of Bhagavad Gita,
