Have you written your letter to Father Christmas yet?

Judging by the amount of Christmas shopping I’ve already completed, I’d say quite a few people have been in touch with me! When my son was little, he was very good at getting his letter off to Father Christmas early, unlike his sister who would wait until Christmas Eve. One year, aged six, having received all that was asked for and feeling very happy, he whispered to me, ‘Mummy, Father Christmas is you and Daddy, isn’t it?’ Not wishing to shatter the illusion I made some vague remarks about the spirit of giving etc, but he persisted. ‘Mummy I just want someone to thank.’

Great reminder for this time of the year, when we can look back and find reasons to be grateful. Here are some of mine for starters:

·????? Health. I had breast cancer six years ago, so this is not something I take for granted.

·????? My partner Peter Hyson . We are both married and business partners, which as you can imagine, sometimes has its moments, but I don’t know where I’d be without him.

·????? Our families. Between us we have four offspring, and we count ourselves extremely blessed that they’re all thriving in different kinds of relationships of their own. Although parents instinctively love their children, you can’t assume that you will like your children. Ours are friends.

·????? Which leads me on to other friends. We have a fairly small circle of friends, and we have certainly needed them this year which has been a tough one for us, but they’ve been there and much appreciated.

·????? Members of our team, in particular Belinda Prescott-Collins our Marketing Director and her team. She has been a wonderful support and also produced some amazing marketing collateral that we use over and over again.

·????? For all of you out there. I know some of you better than others, but I really value your reading my newsletters and when you get in touch. Please do it more, even if only for a quick chat or to drop me a comment.
