I don't think anybody did really ask me this to my face, but I could see it in the faces of quite a few people. They could not and cannot really grasp why I would leave the security of a good job and a company that I helped build for 21 years behind.
Some things happen very quickly and in hindsight just feel right. This decision is one of them.
We were already working on the idea that led to the founding of Xuviate for the past five years, but we had always seen Relevant IT (the name of this idea) as the next step for Space Age Technologies. During a two day strategy session in the middle of February it became glaringly obvious that we could no longer keep the two business models under one roof. Mark Geschke, my friend and original co-founder of Space Age, and I on the spot decided that we saw so much of a potential and need that we would start up a new company. Less than 10 days later we announced our exit from Space Age Technologies to our staff and on 1 March we started working exclusively on Relevant IT and in the next months founded Xuviate and sold our share in Space Age.
But why would I say that it was obvious?
What are Relevant IT and Xuviate all about?
And what does the word Xuviate mean in the first place?
...
I still owe quite a few people an answer to many of these (sometimes unasked) questions and Mark did an excellent job encapsulating the main points in a blog he published last week. I cannot put it any better and except for some personal comments (like his confession that he does a good job escaping dish washing duties :-) ) this article indeed is a manifesto of Xuviate and myself.

8 年Hi Nils, I think I did answer you in private six months ago, but then my answer was still very much vague as we still had to find our feet. In the mean time we have gone through a few pivots and have just completed the trial period of our Mastermind Groups with a group of early adopters. I am happy to report that all of them have decided to renew the service. We are thus now ready for prime time and are looking for other interested IT Leaders of Mid-sized businesses (typically 50-1500 computer users) to join our groups. Please feel free to have a look at our website (www.xuviate.com) and especially the products section and blog to get more details. We would love any feedback!

9 年Interesting & good luck with your bold step! Q: can you give me a practical example of what your new company would typically provide as a product for an SME?
