Have You Hit Your Ceiling? Overcome Your Sales Plateau

If you've read the Alchemist, you know that sometimes the universe provides you with a little luck and a big win to show you that you are on the right path.

This immediate win and success is to encourage you to keep going. To move down the path and see it through.

And if I am being transparent - this is what happened in our coaching business.

In the first year - we replaced my entire full-time income on a side hustle of me casually selling my nutrition coaching services on the side.

No fancy sales funnels.

No discovery calls.

No email list or marketing campaign.

It was inspiring. And you know what I thought in that moment?

"That if I just keep doing this with this system then I will continue to grow".

I bet you can see where this is going. Because I didn't continue to grow at that rate. My growth stalled at that level.

And even single "strategy" that I tried to keep the sales coming in essentially failed. Because they were not strong enough to help me move into the next level of my success.

If you are plateaued right now in your coaching business - it is a sign that you need to grow.

That resistance and pressure that you feel in hitting your next big goal, whether it is to sell out your coaching, hit $20K months, or even develop an e-course..

That is your sign to make a change.

The mistake most of us make in our business - whether conscious or not - is we tend to lean back into old "habits for success" that got us to our current level.

Meaning, that when the growth slows and you start to worry about hitting your goal, you turn back to old habits, strategies, marketing principles that helped you accomplish this current level of success.

It is going to take doing things you have never done to get success that you have never have.

The strategies that you have used to get to this level of success serve as your foundation. If you have developed a foundation that you can build upon, then the next step in your business will come naturally.

However, if the foundations that you have built your business upon are weak, if they depend on "hacks" to drive sales, and if they cannot support growth without demanding more of your physical time...

Your business will collapse.

You will be either stuck at your current income level or you will be stuck giving all your time to servicing leaving no room for you - the visionary and CEO - to see above the trees and into the horizon of what you need to focus on.

How to Overcome the Plateau for Insane Growth

Leveling to a multi-six figure coaching business means that you need to have systems that can easily adapt and grow to support and sustain that growth.

All successful 6+ figure coaching businesses contain the following core components:

  1. A Scaleable OfferThis is ONE offer that you have mastered, perfected, and seen duplicated success. Because once you master it, you can scale it. This does not mean that you have an e-course, and group coaching, and private coaching. It means you have taken one form of coaching and systemized it to a point where you know that it can be sold, that success can be duplicated, and that it is desirable by your audience. I always recommend mastering this with private coaching. Why? Because you can have multiple barriers of entry where your engagement is varied. It is accessible. AND you can test what delivers results for your clients. Once you know this - then you can turn it into an e-course.
  2. Recurring Revenue Recurring revenue gives a consistent base that you can quickly expand from. When you have clients on contracts, you are not hustling for new clients and sales each and every month (the flaw with e-course/guidebook models).You learn how much you can handle, and when you start to sell out of your coaching spots, then you can start adapting your pricing accordingly. Perfect example - a new coach is going to start with a low barrier of entry 1:1 coaching package to get credibility, results, testimonials. As word begins to spread and clients begin to demand more time - then you can make a VIP coaching program that gives more of you and transition away from your lower barrier of entry clients.
  3. A Sales Strategy Not a funnel, not social media - an actual strategy. A plan for how you are going to connect with the right clients and convert them. Where are you getting your leads from and how are you nurturing them? What is your average conversion rate length - aka how long does it take a lead to go from a client? What are you client retention rates and at what rate do you need to onboard new leads? And most importantly - how are you selling? Because just posting and sharing about your offer is not enough these days to bring in big sales. Especially in a market highly competitive market. If your sales system is not delivering on the transformation and building deep trust - you will always lose to the cost comparison game. If you find that you are hearing "your prices are too high" from most of your leads - it means that your marketing is not delivering that value.

Where to Start..

The hardest part about pushing past that growth barrier is being extremely honest and open about the "growth opportunities" in yourself as a CEO.

When I started, I was proud. I didn't want to sell. I did not want to do discovery calls. I felt that the bottleneck in my business was always that my offer was not good enough and priced high enough.

And while there was some truth to that statement - that was not the real issue.

The underlying issue was that I held self-limiting beliefs around sales that inevitably cost me a ton of sales.

And most coaches - most people - are holding these beliefs.

It is likely not your offer, it is likely the fact that you are not selling or not selling in a way that attracts the right clients to you.

When you master this skill though - growth happens on autopilot.

Most importantly, be excited about the pressure and resistance you are feeling. It is a sign that you are ready for the growth. Now you just have to step into that next level version of yourself!
