Have You Heard of Habit Stacking?
And while we are at it, how are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions and the goals you set for 2020?
Through the relaxing holidays with Christmas being mid-week as well as New Year’s, I found myself spending a lot of time on goal setting and my vision for the 1st year in this new decade.
In the last few weeks, I’ve been asking people how they’re doing on their goals so far.
I have received:
· Blank Stares
· Smiles
· Loss of Eye Contact
· Some good progress reports
In general, not great updates on the critically important implementation side
Note: People with coaches or accountability partners are doing much better than those without. (Take a look at my 3-33-75 article)
I read an article recently on habit stacking. It’s something I’ve used before that makes a lot of sense to me.
It's in the same realm as “Eating the Elephant One Bite at a Time”
Think about only one goal only or one habit that you would like to focus on for February. It’s a leap year so you get an extra day in 2020.
Consider pressing hard for one month only, February. Change one habit or make positive movement on one goal and one goal only then reset at the end of the month and build on your positive momentum in March.
Stack a positive habit on top of the one you made progress with.
If it’s to lose weight and get in better shape, decide which one you want to start with and as they say at Nike, “Just Do It”.
