Have you heard of GVOD?

With the onset of the Metaverse promoting disruptive innovation and decentralization, the technology and entertainment industry is moving towards game investments. Netflix recently bought game studios such as Boss Fight Entertainment on the premise that it will?"help accelerate our ability to provide Netflix members with great games wherever they want to play them," for an undisclosed sum. This is the third gaming platform that Netflix has purchased in a six-month period.

What is interesting is that Netflix decided to invest in a gaming platform in parallel with the development of AI, VR, AR and IOT. Besides that, Netflix has also hiked up its subscription prices. Through small incremental price changes over time, Netflix has managed to penetrate the gaming sector to get a foot in to the $198.40 billion industry. Eventually, Netflix might even create its own NFTs with movie scenes since it is the third-largest investor in video content worldwide whose subscriber growth seems to be steadily plateauing. As expected, due to the onset of the Covid pandemic, Netflix added 36 million subscribers in 2020 but soon noticed a significant decrease after that. It’s prediction for the first quarter of 2022 amounts to just 2.5 million net additions in comparison.

Customers are no longer being satisfied by the ‘passive’ model of watching movies and series on Netflix and are moving into the interactive gamification of VOD also known as GVOD – Gamified Video on demand- a new streaming model. With the advent of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain with the decentralized Web 3.0, monetization models are changing together with the content that users are now demanding. This new business model incorporates both cryptocurrencies and gamification in a non-gaming context. So how would this work? Users would be rewarded with crypto coins for watching ads mid-stream and even when referring friends/encouraging social interaction. Flixxo is starting to dabble with this which is introducing new opportunities for various industries.

So what is holding the Web 3.0,?The Metaverse, GVOD and crypto exchange together? Communities. Besides benefitting organizations by providing profitable insights, active participation, collective collaboration and the need to belong is the driving force for users. In fact, online communities have already joined forces to rally up against fraudsters who stole millions of dollars from NFT collectors. These crowdsourcing initiatives are occurring naturally/organically within online communities which is piquing the interest of marketers and businessmen alike. The holistic space to share ideas and foster collaboration is essential when measuring customer feedback trends. Besides this, the nature of collaboration fosters an environment where online word of mouth propagates. What is steadily gaining traction is the moderation and management of certain online communities that seem to be fostering fake news and misinformation.?

So what does this mean for the gaming industry? Well, what is a game without its players? Wherever its audience goes, games will continue to adapt, evolve and develop to satisfy its users in a ‘survival of the fittest’ model. 10 years from now we could be grabbing our VR headsets and entering into virtual casino’s and playing social games with our friends or even strangers avatars from across the globe. We could even interact through Gifs, movie scenes or video clips as human nature will still strive for self-expression and identity even if we’ve chosen to represent ourselves in a virtual format.?

The focus will shift to content as software start to dissipate into a cloud-based decentralized ecosystem. This is where content marketing and SEO comes in. We are already seeing significant AI shifts in Google’s algorithm that is focusing on a Multitask Unified Model (MUM). Rather than focusing on specific one-word syllables, Google’s AI is now recognizing and adapting its software to understand natural human language. This multilingual, multitask and multimodal technology is just a taste of what we can expect in the future.?

lets grow with GVOD by our side
