Have you experienced culture shock?

Have you experienced culture shock?

When you move to a new country, experiencing?culture shock in the community or at the workplace?is inevitable. The good thing is though you might see it at first because you are so busy navigating life and work?abroad but it?definitely broadens your horizons and enriches your experiences.

I have even experienced culture shock when I traveled abroad and also worked and studied abroad.

This week I will be chatting with?Tanja Saarinen Chavez, Intercultural Communication Coach and Trainer and a Speaker at the The Expat Woman Summit in March 2024, on Navigating Workplace Culture as an Expat on The Expat Woman Show. Join us on May 28th at 9am PST by RSVPing here.

I also got a lot of engagement when I did a post on Culture Shock. You can see folks responses and add your own in the featured section of?The Expat Woman FB Group and in the post on?The Expat Woman LinkedIn Page.

Talking about culture shock, over the weekend I wrote this?blog post about some things that took getting used to in the US when I moved here from India. Since there are so many, this one is focused on food, drink, and everything related to it.

Do give it a read here?and?let me know if you had similar experience in the US or if you experienced other food culture shocks in the US or elsewhere in the comments of the post.

In case you missed it, last week onThe Expat Woman Show, I chatted with?Solveiga Jaskunas,?HR Consultant and Career Coach for Immigrants and Founding Member of The Expat Woman on Rebuilding Confidence Abroad which can be a culture shock for many as you have to start from scratch.

Have a wonderful rest of the day, evening, night and if you live in the US, Happy Memorial Day!

Nyna Caputi, thank you again for the invitation to speak at the Expat Women Show about "Rebuilding Your Confidence Abroad". The time was very special to me, and I hope that others left the room with at least a few tips that can help them. ? ?I joined the conversations on The Expat Woman every Tuesday this month, and interestingly enough, our conversations blended together but also brought so many new perspectives. The themes ranged from Nyna’s presentation on imposter syndrome, Daniela’s talk on navigating cultural differences, and Tanja's thoughts about overcoming cultural shock. The Expat Woman, thank you for the conversations you bring that are so important for so many of us.
