Typically, people think of psychometric testing when they’re hiring new employees. It can be a great way to learn more about candidates, to find out what their key attributes really are, beyond what they tell you in their interviews (we all like to embellish a little, let’s be honest). And it can also tell you how well someone may fit into an existing team.

More than that though, psychometric testing lets us find out about people’s leadership potential, which can help you uncover your future managers. It can help you learn about people’s skills and knowledge, as well as their key personality traits too, which will help you fill skills gaps on teams and within the whole business.

It also tells you a lot about a person’s general intelligence, their emotional reactions to situations, and their ability to build and maintain relationships with those around them.

It’s kind of like a magic wand for making sure you get what you really want and need from any new hire. Oh, and it can really help save time in the recruitment process, too!

But it’s not just good for new hires.

Consider testing your existing employees to really get the maximum benefit from psychometric testing. Although you probably know your current employees pretty well, there may be aspects that you haven’t seen, skills you haven’t uncovered, and other traits that your business could really benefit from.

It also gives you a good base for comparing candidates’ results to your current team’s results.
