Have you ever thought it would be nice to build native apps out of VueJS? Well... no problem.
Working in hybrid mobile app development makes life easier for developers as they are able to write once and build mobile applications that run on the main platforms with no extra effort.
If you are C# native, then you can use Xamarin framework to write native Android, iOS, and Windows apps.
If you prefer Angular you can use Mobile Angular UI. There are also many other frameworks available at the moment, such as: React Native, Phonegap, Ionic Framework, Framework7...
As a big VueJS fan, I was thrilled when I found out that compiling to native apps is also possible with VueJS. There are few projects working on this. But, first things first.
What is VueJS?
VueJS is a great framework! It is a learning-friendly, light framework, a combination of React’s component approach and Angular’s templates.
Sounds good, but can I develop native apps out of it? Yes, it is possible. We can use Weex and NativeScript for this. Also, the Ionic framework announced very soon support for VueJS. Weex is a project created by the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba. Its slogan is "Write once, Run Everywhere". NativeScript is an Open source framework for building truly native mobile apps with Angular, TypeScript, or JavaScript, and soon with VueJS.
There is a new kid in the block: Nativescript-Vue.
What is NativeScript-Vue?
NativeScript-Vue is a NativeScript plugin that allows you to use Vue.js to craft your mobile application. Both iOS and Android. If you have used Vue.js before you will feel right at home with NativeScript-Vue. The plugin is still in development, but the official release is planned for mid of February.
I bet on Nativescript-Vue.
So, don't wait for the official release, give it a shot. Try out Nativescript playground, check out Nativescript-Vue Github organization.
Stay tuned.
