Have You Ever Looked At Ducks?

They're very rarely in a row!
Have you ever noticed that?
The only time they kinda line up behind each other is when one of them has taken the lead - like a mother duck crossing a road with her ducklings!
Why, then, do we say we need to get our ducks in a row before we do something big? Or, is that we just got numb to the saying, and we don't really notice ducks are hardly ever in a row.
If we REALLY learnt from ducks, we'd noticed that they're not all shuffling up behind one of them and waiting for it to move.
We'd notice it takes a decision, and then the other ducks fall in behind it.
The learning here is? Don't wait until you get your ducks are in a row, make a decision and lead with one - pick one idea - then all the ducks will fall into place and follow.
Do you feel me, ducky!

9 个月I think, but may be wrong, that the saying refers to shooting ducks, sadly. Ducks flying in a row like fairground ducks in a shooting gallery, so you can shoot them one after another. Rather horrible, really. Then there's "sitting duck", which refers to the idea of it being unsportsmanlike to shoot them in the water. ??

1 年Great point. There are many ducks but few leaders. You need a leader to show the flock the way to go.
