Have you ever had one of those "light bulb" moments?
Mike Howarth
Making high achieving men unstoppable. Welcome to The Peak Performance Project.
Happy Monday team.
Here's a story as part of this week's newsletter.
This selfie was taken as I arrived at the gym on Saturday morning, not knowing how sleepy I looked.
At the time I'd just done another lap of the car park to check the car.
In that moment I was astonished at the difference in my decision-making and how it had changed since how I would have responded in the past.
Here's a quick story to to explain more...
In 2005 I was running late to compete in the European Union weightlifting championships in Poland.
On the way there I was furiously speeding in my 1.2 Fiat Punto which was making an awesome screaming noise.
(The car was falling apart and I can't remember the last time I out oil in it either.)
My solution?
Play my Bon Jovi CD as loud as possible and completely ignore it.
Getting to the airport on time, I made my flight.
No surprise however, when I got back, my cars head gasket was blown.
Not good.
Which brings me back to today.
On Saturday I heard a noise from the car as I got to the gym.
I decided to do another lap of the carpark just to make sure it was okay.
There was nothing wrong with it and it must have been nothing.
No Bon Jovi CD or living on a prayer needed, the car was fine.
Now at this point you might think I'm absolute douche and you're probably right.
But that doesn't stop me laughing to reflect the difference in my decision making though, and it's something I recommend you do too.
Always look back to see how far you've come.
While I'm here...

Here's an exercise for you if you want to lose weight, get in shape and achieve your ideal physique and lifestyle goals.
It's called a "pre mortem"
***Drum roll please...***
Firstly imagine you've failed to achieve your health, lifestyle, and body shape goals.
By imagining this situation, you're able to use the failure based technique of perspective hindsight.
Once imagined you can do the investigative work to find out what the problems contributed to your failure.
Once done you can write down three things...
1) Where the solution might be.
2) What needed to have taken place.
3) How you can prevent this going forwards.
It's similar to the exercise I do with my clients in week 5 truth be told.
Because yes...
Is important.
But for long term success being aware of the pitfalls that lie ahead is the best way to ensure they never show up in the first place.
Think of the above exercise like a seat belt if nothing else.
Thanks for checking out this week's newsletter.
In my readership I have a mixture of...
When it comes to health.
Whichever you are it's great to have you on board.
Attached below is video on nutrition and some of the challenges that I faced on my journey as I dropped 104 pounds before creating The Peak Performance Project.
In other news I have some more clients testimonials coming through the pipeline but for now I hope you enjoy this clip on "bananas and olives."
