Have you ever considered writing a book?

Have you ever considered writing a book?

This is something lots of people think about, but never complete. Maybe you want to tell your story? Maybe you want to share your message with the world? A book can help you do this, but when I wrote my first book, I only ever had 1 purpose.

In 2006 I attended the Global SAP Conference in the US and heard from experts on the stage talk about their own Case Studies and Project success. Having been in this field myself since 1995, I realised that I had a lot of expertise of my own to share. I had recently worked on a global programme that was revolutionary. I was currently working on the largest Public Sector transformation in Europe and I was a solution lead, part of a team that was going to implement a solution that no-one else had achieved around the world.

I thought to myself, I should be up there sharing our experience alongside these other experts. The reason why I was not asked, was a credibility issue. None of the Conference organisers knew who I was and I needed to raise my credibility.

Being published is the ultimate way to communicate your expertise and authority. I wrote articles for reputable organisations, but the game changer was the first book in 2008. I went into job interviews and project proposals with my book in hand and it was the most impressive CV you could leave with a potential client.

I worked on my profile and went from having a great CV and lots of experience to someone that used to get phone calls asking for my availability and my rate. The money was great, but more importantly, for me, I got to work on the projects I wanted to work on.

As my profile grew, I was invited to speak at International Conferences, I spoke in Prague, Nice, Orlando, and my highlight was speaking at the MGM Grand in Vegas. The main stage held 2,500 c-suite business professionals and I also sat on the 'Ask the Experts' panel for 5 years.

As I changed my specialism, I continued this strategy and over the last 3 years, I have featured on BBC Radio, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal. Each time, the profile has been raised as I have been positioned by reputable sources as an expert and accordingly, people want to listen to what I have to say.

This post is not just about me, it is about me asking you the important questions; "Could you benefit from a similar strategy?"

"How could your profile change by being published?"

"Do you have knowledge or experience to share, but have not been given this chance before?"

Over the last 2 years, I have worked on a number of book projects, including the Customer Experience series, where I am focussing on showcasing the hidden talent and stories that need to be shared.

Both CX1 and CX2 were no.1 Amazon Best Sellers and I am sure that the next book in this series, CX3, will also be a huge success. Working alongside a publishing powerhouse, Writing Matters, we are about to launch the 'Call for Contributors'.

You don't need to have any experience or professional qualifications, you just need to have a good story to share with the world and be ready to contribute to the project.

Project timelines are usually 6 weeks, from your submission to the book launch date.
