Have You Ever Been Abandoned?

Abandonment. It's a word that carries so much weight, doesn't it? It's one of the deepest wounds we can bear, and I've felt its sting firsthand.

Do you remember a time when someone you depended on left you?

For me, it was my mother. Not because she didn't want me but because she couldn't be there emotionally for me.?

One day, I had a mother, and then suddenly, I didn't. I woke up in the morning and went to school, by the time I came back, she was gone. Not even one word of explanation from anyone about what happened. I felt alone, with no one to share my feelings with, no one to lean on. I cried for 3 months yearning for her comfort, crying my heart out.?

I would hear my friends talk about their supportive mothers, and it would choke me inside. I yearned for that connection, that support. I had to toughen up instead.?

It's not just about parents. Abandonment can come from a partner?who leaves you, a friend who ghosts you, or even a child who alienates you.?

It leaves us questioning our own self-worth, wondering if we're ENOUGH, if we have the right to our feelings.

But here's the truth:?it's not always about us. My mother, for instance, didn't abandon me. She was struggling with her own mental illness.?

When she realized she was a danger to me, she made a heart-wrenching decision. She agreed to go to a mental hospital, where she was treated with electric shock. It was her way of protecting me, even if it meant sacrificing herself.?

It took me years, and a profound experience during an Ayahuasca ceremonies, to see the truth. It was a life changing moment for me.?

Abandonment can CHANGE our perception, making us feel that something's wrong with us. But often, it's a reflection of someone else's pain, their struggles, their decisions. And while it leaves a mark, it's a deep wound that can be healed.

Healing comes from being seen, being heard, being felt and witnessed. It's about changing that deep-rooted belief that we're not enough.

This belief comes from a child who had no choice but to survive and had to lean on their caregiver for dear life.?

As we heal, we find our voice, stand up for ourselves, and demand the love and respect we deserve. We raise the bar high.?

I've been there. I've FELT the pain, the grief, the angel.

But I've also experienced and felt the healing, the transformation.

As I healed, the quality of my relationships changed. I no longer sought out relationships where I felt I had to fix or rescue someone, as I felt about my mom. Instead, I attracted those who saw my worth and treated me with the love and respect I deserved.
