Have you done your maths HW?

Yes ,45 minutes

What on?

It was probability & Venn Diagrams

Ah, where they intersect!

So what would an example be?

Where the cards are say, picture cards AND a certain colour. I.e. BOTH .

When it is coloured OR a picture it is the UNION of each .

So we wandered down to the local state school fete & invested in a meat tray.

What are our chances?

We also entered a quiz to estimate the number of blown up balloons in a new Mini Cooper.

Yes we did have a Mini too long ago & it wasn’t 50K as they are today.

So we did a little maths i.e. number of balloons across X length X height = 276.

Some work but really an estimate.

Earlier we had watched a recording of the Rugby Union final & yes our team won.

It was an away game & only 1 team has won an away final in 17 years so the odds & expectations were not high. Their opponents had also only lost one.

However they had finished 2nd & both teams had international players .

So two finalists who by effort AND Skill AND enthusiasm AND high expectations AND… played

Yes our team did win.

Maybe it was a little luck as a red card send off for the opponents was a variable that no one expected.

However the referee was local as was the TMO & video replays showed so.

The local commentators agreed with the decision as it is in the laws of the game.

Unbiased which is too often confused with fair .

We still await either call from the fete but the Chances aren’t high although plans for what to do with the Mini win have been discussed.

The chances are very high from both entries that we will have calls AND emails from both as they were capture opportunities from local RE agents.

They are doing the work AND being seen AND making their own luck.
