This week, I discuss some ideas about creating a LinkedIn content strategy in steps to make content creation easier to manage for busy people.
A well-thought-out weekly content schedule ensures that your LinkedIn content plan will work towards you achieving your goals and keeping your LinkedIn network engaged with your content.
Week 1: Get your audience’s attention
Standing out in the newsfeed, getting the attention of your audience and engaging with them is the heartbeat of your LinkedIn presence.
Focus on starting conversations and awareness with your audience. Here are some ideas as to how.
Ask Questions: Create questions and lead your network by starting conversions related to trends, industry, business successes, and challenges, for example. Be online when you post to encourage your audience to share their opinions and help build momentum to grow the audience for your post.
Polls and Surveys: Create polls and surveys to learn more about your audience and thereby discover how you can help them. Build an audience around problems that you can solve. I create polls to understand the challenges of my audience. Many LinkedIn members like polls as it is a quick way to engage on LinkedIn.
Share Stories: Being willing to share stories that showcase who you are helps to show your personality and your skills. Your LinkedIn audience likely wants to have a sense of “the person”. We all know liking someone and building trust is a vital step to creating new clients. Especially in the world of AI, when we feel the story comes from the heart or experiences of a real person, it catches our attention more than ever. I find when I teach, I often tell stories about my experiences over the years and how I either learned or benefited from them.
Comment on your LinkedIn audience’s posts: Be an active part of your LinkedIn network, engaging in your LinkedIn network and content. Speaking from experience, we remember people who frequently leave comments, which shows that the person has read your posts, etc, and avoid meaningless comments like “brilliant” or the like. With comments, you can initiate meaningful conversations and help build a network that is ready to do business with you.
Week 2: Teach and Inform:
The next step is moving your focus toward providing quality, valuable content through your education and knowledge. Spotlight your expertise in your sector and with time become a go-to source for that expertise.
Educational Posts: Share tips or actionable advice, best practices, or authority information. Offer useful advice that is easy to apply for your audience.
Industry News: Keep your audience updated about the latest advancements or news in your sector and express our point of view, which can lead you to become a trusted thought leader.
Consider Infographics: when appropriate, as they make information easy to understand quickly. Such as for stats, new business information etc. Infographics are there to simplify complex ideas and data, and they are highly shareable on social media.
Week 3 Inspiring and stimulating content:
Try to create content that will encourage your LinkedIn network to achieve their goals and stimulate their passions.
Success Stories Post about either your own success stories or those of others in your sector. How success was achieved and what were the lessons learned, but be honest and real about the challenges of achieving that success.
That is why on the Dislexik world Podcast that I Co-Host we love sharing and spotlighting dyslexic adults' success stories, often achieved only after overcoming many challenges.
Quotes and Anecdotes: Create motivational quotes, and inspiring advice that give your LinkedIn audience the vision and motivation for success. Do not overdo them, as your audience needs more from you than just quotes.

Week 4 Building Relationships and Connecting.
Concentrate on establishing “quality” LinkedIn connections to help grow your business. Your LinkedIn marketing is not just about content; it is about purposeful LinkedIn relationships to help you and your connections achieve goals and success together.
Networking Posts: Share your network to promote your connections and be in their thoughts for your business going forward.
For example, this week I will be thanking and will mention my Podcast guests whom we recorded Podcasts with earlier in the year. That will help continue the relationships going forward with my Podcast guests.
Promote people in your inner trusted circle that you know offer quality products and services.
LinkedIn Newsletters Audio Events: Have you considered hosting an audio event or creating a LinkedIn newsletter? When creating your content, remember to consider what has worked for you in the past and continue to test and measure as audiences change.
Having a content plan helps keep your content marketing on track. When you are extra busy, or it takes a little while to get back into the rhythm of creating content after you take a holiday or a break, for example.
Consistency is key, think of it this way - if you went to an offline shop, and it was closed when it said it was open, would you be less likely to return?
If your LinkedIn audience does not see your content consistently, but they see your competition consistently, who will be in their mind for doing business? You or your competition?
With time, your LinkedIn audience will look for your content, especially when it is quality and helps them in some way.
Sometimes when your audience sees your content, they may want to know what’s in it for them. Will your content give them an answer to a problem or challenge they are facing, for example?
Next Wednesday, I will be writing about how to grow your engagement here on LinkedIn for businesses or those starting on LinkedIn.
