Have You Connected the Dots?

What do you do? I asked a car driver I accompanied to a meeting.
"I am a driver at the company", he replied.

What does your company do?, I asked.
"It's a software company", he replied rather politely.

What software do they develop?, was my obvious next question
"Ummmm, a a a - sorry, I don't know", silence fell between us for a while.

Does all of the employees ever get to know the bigger picture? A holistic view to the organization vision, goals and strategies so that they can realize why they are important in their role and how their work connects to the 'magic' the company is creating.

We need to educate all of our employees on this, no matter what level or role they have in the organization. By doing so, they would feel far valuable in what they do for the company and their motivation will go up a notch as well
