Have you Been “Stepping Out” on Your “Other Half”??? ??

Noooo, not on your spouse, I mean on the other half of YOU. ??

You know, that “side” thing you love so much but it isn’t your “main” thing so you brush off it’s value. . . like that free group on Facebook you created in 2009 to exchange toddler recipes and has thousands of people who know, like and trust you but don’t consider that a part of your “ACTUAL” business because you are not a health coach, you are a lawyer and healthy recipes are not a part of your “offer” suite.

Or that podcast you started back in 2015 when you were going through your fertility journey and still maintain to this day interviewing leading experts each month. . . the one with 10,000 downloads each month. That one. This is a passion project and you don’t consider it a business. You are a professional copywriter.

I have met way too many super smart business women lately that have been coming to me to increase sales in one area but after a little bit of strategy work together I uncover this MASSIVE untapped OTHER HALF of their life.

Like in my example above, if you are a lawyer and want to create a course with legal documents combined with advice on how and when to deploy them and are looking for “your people” to sell them to but TOTALLY disregard this OTHER massive area of your life.

OR

Let’s say you are a copywriter and are now creating a course for DIY beginners to write their first email sequences but haven’t spent much time creating your own brand or audience. Since I like to combine the power of both organic and paid traffic for launching a new course I ask about all of the organizations you currently belong to and any hobbies or “passion projects” you may have. You admit “well, I have this podcast where I interview women who are sharing their infertility stories”. Then you reveal that you have 30,000+ people on a separate email list that subscribes for resources around infertility.

The lawyer's recipe-loving followers have no idea that she has legal resources available to purchase even though they totally would buy from her (they don’t know WHO to trust when it comes to those types of things). The copywriter’s infertility podcast listeners have no idea she could guide them through writing a compelling email sequence for their business or organization.

The lawyer says to me “Renee, the recipe group doesn’t need that, half of them don’t even know I’m a lawyer.”

The copywriter says to me “Renee, the podcast listeners only care about infertility. It would feel like a bait and switch.”

My answer: ? Stop Cheating Them OUT of The CHOICE.

Lawyer: re-introduce yourself in a post or a livestream in the group and share with the recipe-lover’s what you do for your profession and that you have this new piece you are rolling out. Invite them to click a link that would put them on a special list to hear more as information becomes available. No pushing. You are not saying “no recipes anymore - only legal”. You are saying “I am BOTH a recipe-lover AND a lawyer”.

Copywriter: send an email and invite the podcast listeners who know you as their trusted advisor in this space to open their eyes to the power of email for their business or organization. Invite them to opt-in to a special list to hear more. You are NOT saying “no more infertility resources only copywriting”. No bait. No switch.

WOW. Doesn’t that feel better now that you’ve come clean? ??♀?

You are MANY THINGS. ??

You most likely have more than a few things you have been “keeping on the side”. . . and you would NOT be alone. These are just a couple examples, I could rattle off ten more just from this past MONTH.

? STOP CHEATING on the “side”. Come CLEAN. They WANT to know.

Having been in the profession of teaching entrepreneurs to sell for two decades I can tell you, the buyer wants to know if you relax with crocheting, are obsessed with mopeds AND that you are, of course, brilliant at your profession.

Most important takeaway: STOP CHEATING YOURSELF. ?

You are SO MUCH MORE than just what you do for a LIVING. ??

You are so many things. You have so many experiences and stories to share. SHARE THEM. ??
