Have you been climbing mountains—physically, mentally, or emotionally?
Last week, my journaling practice with Flowetry by Emma Walkinshaw gave me a much-needed reminder:
"You have already climbed a mountain."
A simple yet powerful truth—we don’t always need to keep pushing. Sometimes, we need to pause, take in the view, and recognise how far we’ve come.
Emma writes in her book, 365 Days of Morning Magic:
"My Love, no doubt you have already climbed a mountain or two. Maybe even got stuck at the top or bottom from time to time, but you kept going."
And the mantra? "I am capable."
That one hit deep. Because I’ve literally climbed mountains—Kilimanjaro (5,895m), trekked in Papua New Guinea, reached Everest Base Camp, and explored the Andes in Peru. But I’ve also climbed so many metaphorical mountains—challenges in business, personal growth, and life itself.
And here’s what I’ve learned: You don’t just climb and move on. You have to stop. Breathe. Take in the view. Celebrate.
So often, we reach a goal and instantly focus on the next challenge. But what about the pause? The deep breath? The moment of gratitude for what we’ve achieved?
This week, I realised I didn’t take enough rest after my recent retreat—an incredible experience that deserved time to sink in. I gave myself one extra night in Sydney, but by Friday, I felt like I hadn’t really stopped. So, I’m choosing to pause.
Not on an actual mountain this time, just a quiet trip inland to country Queensland with my husband and son. It’s not about elevation; it’s about perspective. Because sometimes, a holiday is simply looking out a different window.
So, my question for you: When was the last time you sat at the top of your mountain, real or metaphorical, and just soaked it all in?
If you’ve been climbing nonstop, this is your sign to pause. To celebrate. To be in the moment. Because you are capable. You have already climbed a mountain. And you deserve to enjoy the view.
Take a moment this weekend. You’ve earned it.
With gratitude,
Emma
P.S. Need a new perspective? A different view? A shift in altitude to change your attitude?
