I wrote about this a few years ago, and yet even today it is more relevant!? Modern technology has enabled us to rely upon the use of modern technology, and applications on our Mobile / Smart Phones.? Although we are really that smart, in many ways maybe not!
Why – Well simply because when we disconnect communication applications, from our mobile phones, we actually have no way to communicate with anyone, especially if we have no WIFI.? Because we no longer have a landline or telephone in our homes, and therefore everyone uses applications to communicate – by sending a typed message.
In essence, how do we know that the person sending us the message is actually the person you think is sending the message.? Sometimes they can be so long, that it puts us off from reading the whole message, at times, they make no sense because predictive testing creates a muddled message that makes no sense.
Everyone now and then, I uninstall WhatsApp, and what happens – absolutely nothing, as everyone has forgotten to pick up the phone and speak to each other, for those that are partially sighted a total nightmare.? As we are used to reading messages, we hear the person in our heads, yet it is really them.

Having a weak eye, sending messages via text is a total nightmare, I have the ability to know if the person is real or not just by speaking with them or being able to understand by how their lips move.
So, the Lesson Learned here is very simple, before long I will reinstall a Land Line, and disconnect Whatsapp, and see how many people, actually remember how to pick up a telephone and speak to someone in person.
When Oma was alive, we always would speak to her, once she had finished watching her soaps on tele, and then when we visited and returned home, we would have to give her 3 rings so she knew we would be home safe,
The next time you send a message, and don’t get an instant response it doesn’t mean we do not care, or do not have the time.? It might be that actually speaking to people in person is worth far more than text messages!
