Have a safe 4th of July!

The 4th of July has always been a source of inspiration for me. It's not just about the barbecues and fireworks; it's a chance for our entire country to come together in unity.

Recently, my company was honored to provide First Aid and CPR training to the members of the Bay Mills Indian Community Wildland Fire Fighters. Joining them were personnel from the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This dedicated group of individuals leaves their homes and families for extended periods to assist others across the U.S., performing rigorous tasks such as first and extended fire attacks, fireline construction, and mop-up operations, all while enduring noxious fumes and intense heat. Shovels, axes, picks, and chainsaws are essential parts of their work gear.

I walked away with a newfound respect and admiration for my brothers and sisters in the Wildfire Brigades and Forest Service. Whether they're called smoke jumpers, hotshots, or another name, they serve our communities and country with unwavering spirit, skill, and dedication to keeping America safe.

Too often, people take for granted the freedom and security we enjoy in America, viewing it as a birthright rather than a hard-earned privilege. Our independence was achieved through the diligence and sacrifice of those who came before us and continues to be preserved by the efforts of individuals today. From our armed forces securing our borders to those ensuring the safety of our hometowns, it's a benefit born of hard work, empathy for others, and a relentless commitment to our communities and nation.

Firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, crisis hotline staff, and countless other specialists form the safety net that protects this nation every day. Whether abroad or at home, these individuals contribute to our nation's success and deserve to be celebrated on this holiday.

As we watch the fireworks together on the 4th of July, let's remember the sacrifices made to bring us this far and appreciate those who continue to safeguard our communities and country, allowing us to cherish the golden freedoms we hold dear.
