Have the leading-with-leverage business model(s) jumped the shark?

We recognize what cross-links @Stefan Wilhelm’s, @Maria Santacaternia’s, @Daniel T. Cooper postings is this notional theme:

The ability of leveraged money to transfer thought into action is weakening.

Old #ExtractionAge[1, 1a] strategies and tactics are less and less effective as new alternatives arise.

These new #EcosystemAge alternatives[1b] have different relationships to time, space and resources.

It is through these alternative relationships achieving with simple grace what is otherwise not possible through leading-with-leverage. [ref: delivering near zero marginal costs, and more…[1c∞.

In other words, each posting highlights what was once thought of as “concrete” is in fact vaporous.

Here are the three referenced postings presented in no particular order. We see them, written separately and at different times, by different people., now presenting as an interdependent set.

Each is a fine expression of metaphysical relationships shaping physical outcomes in three closely related spaces:

1) Stefan’s posting’s topic: #MachineLearning/AI changes the business model and many leverage-dependent commercial firms cannot afford it. [ref: “AI applications involve significant costs for each interaction due to data processing and computation needs.”

2) Maria’s posting’s topic: #CapitalFlows in AI.

3) Daniel’s posting’s topic: Fear inducing external forces outside an individual’s control.

Bottomline: In each space the ability to transfer ideas into action requires more than the leftover lead-with-leverage strategies and tactics from the bygone #ExtractionAge.

Ironically, the very technologies* brought forth in the #ExtractionAge by the captains of lead-with-leverage industries (digital and more…) are clearly upending these same captains’ and others’ dependent on old lead-with-leverage thinking, deciding and acting behaviors. This subtlety is significant. It is a historical marker for what comes next.

*[ref: earth-born-digital-network-sensors, earth-orbiting-sensors and the manual (and now with #MachineLearning/AI semi-automatic, soon to be fully automatic) triangulation of these new to humanity Nature-based metadata flows.]

What leftover behaviors you might ask?

We use this idiom to describe a set of such behaviors: “leading-with-leverage”*.

Thanks to #MachineLearning/AI (and more…) leading-with-leverage has lost its usefulness.

We recognize this is, in large part, due to the aforementioned triangulation of new to humanity Nature-based metadata—and the commodification of its access to a price point anyone with a smartphone can gain access and utilize such effectively and fully. [ref: Venmo for Nature anyone? (and more…]

To be clear: what is getting commoditized is an entire group of people who thought their leveraged position(s) gave them special protective charm or salvation. Unfortunately, for them, such may not to be the case[2, 2a].

In other words, it is not just college professors and university administrators who have to worry about the role they presently occupy being replaced. People in the role of traditional investors, private equity, venture capital and other previously thought “protected” and other administrative roles now have competition.

It may take some time—but much, much shorter than most investment payback timelines are presently accounting for—but these #Machine Learning/AI semi and fully automatic cross-linking capabilities—and associated optics—change the scope by which even the most favored among us can behave.

Nature Has The Time It Takes.

For what many new to Nature-based human endeavors—agriculture, food, healthcare, (and more…), Nature’s ability to absorb leverage far exceeds human’s leverage application abilities. And yes, that includes whatever one’s imagination can muster up in relation to #MachineLearning/AI[3, 3a].

Question(s) to Learn, Not Questioning to Challenge?

Are we witnessing a leading-with-leverage’s* jump-the-shark moment[4]?

Have the leading-with-leverage business model(s) jump the shark?

*models, strategies, tactics, thinking, deciding, acting/behaving and more…

The #RegenerativeAgriculture space’s capital flows is where we see all these new Nature-based metadata, Planet and People relationships morphing into new forms.

Given the millions (with their billions of dollars and other currencies) having arrived at the space where Nature, human intellect and digital technology / #MachineLearning / #ArtificialIntelligence / leveraging tools of all sorts intersect, one thing we see crumbling at faster and faster rates is the now clearly worn out lead-with-leverage business models.

Among the various business models seen faltering is the oligopoly business model.

So will the first move of purchasing large tracts of farmland followed by setting a global narrative and other oligopolistic behaviors—proven in the #ExtractionAge to accumulate great material wealth while evaporating one’s cross-linking abilities—still work?

Who is to know? Who is to tell?

All we know is we have looked at how business model disruption generally? happens when originating from the west coast of America. We have also looked at how such disruption generally happens when originating from the east coast of America[5].

For us we have moved on to something more meaningful and impactful than pretending a continuation of leading-with-leverage is OK.

Our working idiom is “Disruption from the Heartland? works differently”.[5].

A Natural Confluence:

An #ExtractionAge weakness, now being corrected has been described by others as ‘A belief in the transcendent power of human intelligence, that it operates as its own kind of protective charm or salvation”[2, 2a].

This overconfidence in human intelligence might be one of the reasons why we humans always miss and suffer from catching on quick enough to Nature’s morphing ways[3,3a].

• Often, but not always, disruption originating from the west coast does so with an over-reliance on analytical domain items commonly recognized as “tools”, “technology” and other leveraging enablers.
