Have I really had Parkinson's for too long ?

I have just celebrated my 51st birthday which for most people isnt a big deal but when you take into consideration I have lived with Juvenile ( a word I really do not like ) On-Set Parkinson's disease since 1975. Forty-four years is not a bad innings but not yet worthy of holding my proverbial bat in the air and taking in the applause from an appreciative crowd- I will have to wait until another six years for that .
The truth is I have had Parkinson's for too long to be able to make a difference in clinical trials and I want to help find a cure. I have been on L-Dopa therapy for over forty years nobody is able to tell me what its doing to my body as the average duration of its efficacy is usually ten years. If I dwell on this it makes me feel incredibly alone and fearful . I choose not to .
Bizarrely though I do consider myself lucky . I cannot remember not living with this chronic degenerative neurological condition so I have nothing to compare my current situation with.
All my energies I put into living my best Parky life and promoting the global wellness and education tool of the same name www.parkylife.com that hopefully adds a bit of colour and spreads positivity to the Parky community .
Hopefully I will be able to raise my bat in six years at 50 not out even though I may not be able to hit the ball !
