    Ethan Harper, our 15-year-old, has been diagnosed with narrow complex tachycardia symptomatic with palpitations, presyncope and sometimes asymptomatic. If left untreated, this may result in tachycardia-induced dilated cardiomyopathy. He has recently also been diagnosed with POTS syndrome (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a condition that affects circulation (blood flow). POTS is a form of orthostatic intolerance, the development of symptoms that come on when standing up from a reclining position, and that may be relieved by sitting or lying back down.)

. He requires invasive electrophysiology testing for definitive diagnosis and curative ablation therapy by radiofrequency or cryoablation therapy and further testing for his syndrome.

   The current invasive electrophysiology testing in Trinidad is suboptimal with the unavailability of a 3D mapping system and cryoablation therapy. It is therefore not safe to perform this evaluation in Trinidad. His medical treatment cost for the surgery would be a minimum of $151,00.00 US however this does not include travel and other expenses. As given by the Hospital's Diagnosis report the surgery should be treated on a priority basis. As you can imagine we are quite worried as our young son has problems doing the most basic things like walking up the stairs or kicking a ball with his friends.

   Ethan has always dreamed of being a black belt in karate and has devoted many long hours practicing, unfortunately, he has had to stop just one belt short of his dream as the exertion of just 10 minutes is simply too much.

  I cannot tell you how distressing it is seeing your son not be able to simply stay awake because he is so tired all of the time, falling to sleep in class and missing all the fun of college life and how stressful it is knowing that this could escalate at any time without the ability to get care locally.
