“Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it.”

17 years creating, imagining, questioning the status quo for a better future. I am soon reaching my “age of majority” as a professional designer and I am only at the beginning of the path.
Twenty years ago our heroes were Creatives who mixed art, function, technique. Our heroes were stars, personalities. We bought their names before the brand or the product.Design has since changed. It has evolved into multiple functions in international groups, in ultra-specialised agencies, design is no longer simply a product, it is an experience.
At the same time, Design has never really found its place in executive committees, except maybe in the sport industry. The whole paradox is there. The design is key but it always remains in this grey area of support function or ?nice to have?.
Dear colleagues - Let us ask ourselves the questions how to value our function from a global point of view and how Design management could create a better visibility to executive committees.
How can we help the future generation of designers to have a prominent place within companies and civil society?
Design Schools - Contact us to understand the challenges of tomorrow, what we are looking for to shape the Future . I don’t want the designer to become just an execution workforce. Design has a bright future!
We are entering a new era of creativity.
-We are drastically changing the way we consume . Recyclable products, circular economy, waste reduction . The designer will become a key player in this transformation.
WE MUST INVENT EVERYTHING.
-The Covid crisis has accelerated the digitisation of our way of life. User/Consumer experience, digital tactility, transmission of emotion through a screen…
WE MUST REINVENT EVERYTHING.
-Design is no longer the work of one woman/man, it is the fruit of collective intelligence. Let us be open to others, whatever their History, Social class, Colour, Belief, we are all in the same adventure.
WE MUST REINVENT EVERYTHING TOGETHER.
Finally, I asked myself the question of my mission as a designer for the next 17 years and it has not changed since my beginnings:
Democratise, Inform, Invite others to try new experiences .
I have always refused the elitism in the access to new experiences. ; Democratisation is the way of growth, knowledge, what make us better.
Dear Colleagues, this very personal step is the first chapter in a series of reflections that I will share over the coming months. Feel free to respond, write to me; this letter is an invite to exchange.
And you- What is your mission?
Saul Emmanuel.

3 年Nice discussion but when a part of the design is coming from outside ? Is the company open to integrate this new design ?
