Happy Mother's Day to my mama/mimi hen friends reading this!
If this mama hen wants those chicks to hatch, she'd better start sitting on them right away.
It's funny that I've talked to several people lately who didn't understand that all eggs don't have baby chicks in them.
Unless you have a rooster to fertilize the egg, you have a regular egg, and no matter how long a hen sits on it, nothing will happen. The yellow egg yolk is not a baby chick, but it would provide sustenance if there were one.?
Word has it that one rooster can service 20 hens, so now I think I know where the term "cock of the walk" comes from! (Ok, it actually came from cock fighting, but I like my version better.)

9 个月Like the quote! And yes, a rooster is needed for the little chick to spring forth. Not too different from how humans operate, right!?! ?? That egg from the ovary needs a little help! ??
