As a testament to the quality and excellence of their southern-style menu, Red Gum BBQ continues to celebrate the arrival of The Age Good Food Hat to their business's name.
Presented by the Good Food Guide Awards, these accolades recognise the very best in Australia's extensive dining scene, determined by an expert panel with more than 38 years of experience reviewing restaurants.
As well as being the first BBQ restaurant in the country to receive such recognition, the business has also been labelled the "best by far" of American-style barbecues in The Age's Good Food Review.
For ten years, Red Gum BBQ has committed to creating the most traditional, ethical and high-quality BBQ dining and tasting experience in the country.
In Martin Goffin's eyes, owner and self-taught pitmaster, the success from this commitment has always been worth the extensive work undertaken behind the scenes.
"My goal was never to win awards. It was to create the best BBQ I could. It is early mornings and long days, slinging wood and tending to fire and smoke. It's hard, but the love of BBQ and watching people experience my food has always been my motivation," he said.

For founder and owner Melissa Goffin, it has been the customer experience that has remained an integral focus for their business.
"First and foremost was creating an experience where guests left feeling that they've just experienced true Southern hospitality," she said.
With the esteemed honour of a Good Food Hat, the practice of BBQ cooking has been further recognised as a reputable and highly skilled genre, gradually gaining popularity in Australia from its American origins.
Red Gum BBQ is proud to be the nation's only B Corp restaurant, offering a relaxed, family-style setting in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula's hinterland.
