One of the hardest things as a entrepreneur is to delegate.

The first challenge is to have someone to delegate to!

The second, and much bigger challenge, is letting go.

The Entrepreneurial Life Cycle

At some point an entrepreneur has an idea. Often it is because they find that they seem to have a knack for something. People give them feedback that leads them to think, "I should do more of this, and I should do it for myself instead of working for someone else."

It turns out that in order to deliver on this idea we as entrepreneurs have to do all sorts of things that we have NOT been given great feedback for. We have to perform business operational tasks that may be entirely new to us. We feel we cannot hire others when we cannot even pay ourselves for the work we do - yet.

At some point, we need to bring the focus back to the original product or service that kicked off the journey. For example, I am a Coach/Mentor, Speaker, Trainer and Author. I am not a social media person, I don't know how to format my ideas to make them accessible. It is not easy to be consistent with posting.

I needed Creator First Media to push me to do more, try new approaches and get consistent...

Similarly, as much as I want to connect with my audience in Brazil - and I am ATTEMPTING to learn the language, (I just asked my husband for a cup of tea - he looked at me blankly!) I needed to have the support of someone who could translate for me. Not just the words I use, but the feeling. Welcome Jo?o who keeps in mind not just the language, and the message, but also the audience. This means the tone of the piece can be adjusted to relate to the audience it is meant for - formality vs informality, idioms, shorthand and more have to be carefully considered for this to be translation and not just transliteration.

Delegating is hard and necessary

Delegating is hard, it is uncomfortable. And, yet when we do delegate, the results can be so much greater than when we do everything by ourselves - even the things we are not good at!

And our latest addition to the team is Jo?o Almeida who is translating our posts into Portuguese so that we can share with our audience in Brazil. Now they have the choice of whether to read posts in English or Portuguese.

This is how Jo?o introduces himself:

Hello! My name is Jo?o Pedro, and I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After finishing my studies in London, I worked in the entertainment industry, and also as a social media manager for the tourism sector. However, it was only 4 years ago that I found my true calling. I’ve always loved learning languages and I speak Portuguese, Spanish and English fluently, so I started translating and it instantly felt like the right thing to do. I especially enjoy working with projects I believe have a positive impact on the societies they reach. I love what I do!
