Amongst the things that people don't understand is .....
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT USING SOCIAL MEDIA and NETWORKING ( combined with telemarketing and sales )
They don't understand it, they can't do it and therefore they FEAR it.
Because they FEAR it they HATE it.
Is HATE too strong a word ?
In my experience NO !
Senior management who don't understand or embrace social media and networking really do react very strangely.
They listen to what I call " the whisperers " .... who say things like ..why is he/she on social media ? what are they doing ? why are they at that networking event ? ... and then they completely get their knickers in a twist over it all ...
They distrust people who are actually spending more time promoting their business than " the whisperers " and are in fact more loyal.
They assume that they are simply self promoting when in fact they are doing so in order to get the company more business AND they are doing it out of hours and at their own cost often.
They also assume that there is no PURPOSE or OBJECTIVE.
WAKE UP ! Your hatred stems from your fear and your fear from your lack of understanding.
