We believe you can make this world a better place with your ideas, insights, and stories and offers.
Here is a question for you to which you have to respond very honestly - are you happy in your current corporate role?
If not, then this book is for you.
Hatching Butterflies is not going to tell you how to be happy in your current role, rather, this book is a comprehensive guide that will help you have a very smooth transition from a corporate career to a self-determined future.
Your life isn’t meant to be stuck in a tiresome job role where you’re expected to function akin to machines from 9 in the morning to 6 in the evening, which can often extend up to 10 or 12 in the night given the deadlines and other stuff.
The shift from a corporate career to an independent life may not be very easy.
However, as unrealistic as it may sound, it is possible if you could spare some time to think and reflect on what you?really?need.?
Book Summary
In Hatching Butterflies, Sandhya reveals techniques that will help you?come out of?your comfort zone, just like how butterflies hatch out of the larvae. What makes this book even special is the fact that the book cover is hand-drawn by Sandhya on her own. The pictures look absolutely hyper-realistic.
Throughout the book, you will come across a few more pictures drawn by Sandhya, which explain the amount of effort she has put in to make her readers understand the journey from a pupa to a butterfly, aka from corporate employee to a successful individual with self-set rules.?
Hatching Butterflies?is part biography with exercises, tips, and tools for navigating one’s career.
This book uses a simple tool called PGROW to identify possible professional goals and align them with other aspirations and one’s values and beliefs. It talks about the value of networks and how one can traverse through life’s uncertainty.
The ‘Butterflies’?are the ideas that one can work on to manifest the wonderful people who help us on life’s journey.
Written in a conversational style, this book attempts to share the experiences that the author had as she shaped her self-defined path and the gratitude she feels for the people who helped her on the journey.
Sandhya held a successful corporate career until elder care became her priority a few years back. Clearly, it is never easy for an individual to continue a job that requires flying from country to country?on a weekly basis when eldercare needs to be given more importance.
Prioritizing her father’s health, Sandhya pressed the pause button of life and beautifully carried out her responsibility.
The harsh truth?was, when she looked around for a role that would allow her to stay at home, there did not seem to be anything out there, and even when talking to people, it was not going anywhere.
Often, the stressful situation blinds us to what the world needs from us vs. what has changed in our lives – be it a new baby, loss of a loved one, illness, or any other situation.
Sandhya was fortunate to find a global/regional role within Deutsche Bank as the Divisional Control and Regulatory Officer, which was quite flexible.
After losing her father during COVID, Sandhya was left shattered to bits but managed to rise again, realizing the fact that life goes on no matter what!?
Despite the lockdown, Sandhya had enough support to?deal with?the grieving process. Yet, a few months later, she felt it was time to shift out of the rhythm she had fallen into. When it is time to change, many things seem out of sync, and at work, we will often attribute it to work not being interesting, lack of support for growth, or the boss/ co-workers being unsupportive.
Even if any or all of them are true – if we are centered and in harmony with ourselves, we can handle everything.?This book is Sandhya’s exploration of the next couple of years?of?how she moved?forward?and some of the tools and approaches?that?she has used and shared with people?that?she mentors.
Hopefully, some of these tools will help you on your journey?as well!
