What exactly is the brand Hastens?
Hastens is a Swedish-based luxury bedding company that has been fulfilling dreams since 1852. The concept around these beds is very simple. Hastens allows us to get into our deep REM sleep quicker, and stay in that phase of the sleep cycle longer. The beds themselves use all-natural materials, including horsehair, cotton, wool, flax, and slow-grown, Swedish pine.
The Creator
Although Hastens is a 6-generation family of master-craftsman, it all began with a single individual by the name of Pehr Adolf Janson. After a rough childhood, Pehr set a goal for himself of becoming a master saddler, which he reached successfully. As a master saddler, Pehr worked on both saddles for horses AND beds, which is where the story of natural beds and Hastens began.
How are Hastens crafted?
Each bed and accessory, which include pillow, sheets, pajamas, etc. are handcrafted in Sweden. Handcrafting such amazing products takes time, and we mean a LOT of time... One bed, in particular, named the Vividus, takes around 350 hours to craft the bed from start to finish. Those 350 hours do not even take the preparation of the materials or the creation of the wooden frame into account. These materials are handcrafted to ensure absolute perfection and durability so that individuals who sleep on a Hastens are able to keep it around for many years to come.

A Three-Tier Bed System?
Yes, you read that right. A Hastens bed system is not the typical mattress and box spring setup we find in most homes today.. These beds contain three different tiers to them to ensure the best possible night's sleep. The first layer in the system is the top mattress, which contains a few inches of horsehair and a mixture of cotton and wool. This is the layer we get our pressure relief from. The second layer is the middle mattress, where we get our different firmnesses. The third and final layer is of course the box spring, which pulls together the entire mattress for proper comfort and support.
