To Hashtag or Not to Hashtag: LinkedIn's Evolving Algorithm

As LinkedIn's algorithm becomes more intuitive, the question of whether to use hashtags in posts yields increasingly confusing results.
Three months ago, I ran a test: publishing similar content—one version with strategic hashtags, one without. The results? Mixed at best.
The hash-tagged version saw more initial views but less meaningful engagement. The tag-free version reached fewer people but generated more comments and shares from my target audience.
LinkedIn appears to be following other platforms in prioritizing contextual understanding over explicit tagging. The algorithm increasingly "reads" your content rather than relying on hashtag signals.
What does this mean for creators?
The platform's maturation suggests we're moving toward an experience where quality content finds its audience without artificial signposts.
What's your experience? Have you noticed changes in how hashtags impact your newsletter performance?

3 周There has been so much change from 2024 to 2025. I do find these little things can make such big differences. Consistency, reposts varied across Canada and US and carousels/videos work best still from what I can see.
