Has Going to Work Become Just Another Routine?

Has Going to Work Become Just Another Routine?

Some of us aren't passionate about our jobs. We're just used to the routine of getting up and going to work every day.

I've been in that emotional state before. I would physically be awake and carry my body into the office at 9:00 am (on a good day) and physically do the work that was on my agenda. But the problem with that was I was merely practicing the physical act of going to work and doing work, but was missing the spiritual connection that would've allowed me to operate at another level. Now, don't get spooked when I say spiritual. I don't mean it in an implicitly religiously way. In this context, I use the word spiritual to refer to the indescribable connection that one can have with a position or a company/institution, that motivates them to operate at a maximum level.

Regardless of what industry, or the field of work you find yourself in, we all know that one person who just shows up to work and just aims to meet the standard. Yes, it can be you. If it is, I challenge you to critically think about what it is that's making you feel that way. Is it the office culture? Is it your team? Is it lack of motivation due to no opportunities for advancement? Or is it because you needed a job, applied for the one you have, got hired and now you're miserable because you considered your survival and not your happiness when you were applying?

Whatever the reason, your job shouldn't be something that you only do physically. You should be in a position where you're spiritually invested in your responsibilities. Once your job has become another mundane routine that you do because you're used to doing it, you're on the wrong side of happiness.

Your job(especially one that isn’t aligned with your core values/passions) should be treated as a means to an end... Leverage the knowledge, skills, network & funds to fuel your own buisness/passion project in the future
