In 1970s and 80s, it was very difficult to score 200 runs in 50 to 60 overs in one day innings. But it's not the case nowadays, in an ODI score nearing to 300 has become usual and more interestingly in T20 innings, teams are achieving 170-180+.
Is it really being leaner (Waste - Non Value Added) free???
Few of the Lean terminologies explained here in context of Cricket:
Takt Time : Run Rate
VA : Runs
NVA : Dot Balls, Wickets
Waste of Transportation : Run Shorts
Waste of Motion : Over throws
Waste of Over Production : Runs thru Byes and Leg Byes
Waste of Over Processing & Defects : No Balls, Wide Balls, Free Hits
Waste of Underutilized Human Talent : Bowlers, Batsman not given chance
Kaizen : Reverse sweep, Slow deliveries
Problem Solving Tools : Third umpire decision
Productivity Improvements : Converting ones into two by running between the Wickets
Quality Improvements : Doosra, Carrom ball, Straight bat shot
Visual Management : Dashboard like big screen for important updates (also Andon)
And mostly moving towards Excellence in all above aspects has made this sports so wonderful and Lean.. Let's see how it can grow more and add or improve Value, Entertainment, Interest, etc.
